Agnes Selkirk Clark was born in Janesville, Wis., in 1898. She attended the Lowthorpe School of Landscape Architecture, 1915-1918, then worked in the Des Moines office of Pearse & Robinson as a drafter and planting supervisor, 1918-1919. In 1920 she moved to New York and worked for well-known landscape architect and teacher Ellen Biddle Shipman for two years.
